About

My art is an explosion of color, joy, and truth—where broken pieces are transformed into something beautiful and whole.  With paint, paper, and pattern, I create vibrant abstracts, expressive florals, and semi-representational landscapes.

Art captivated me early in life.  After winning first place in a citywide art competition in middle school, I was encouraged to pursue a “practical” education and ultimately received a degree from Virginia Tech.  My imagination never fit neatly into a cubicle and continued to show itself in all I did.

I have pursued many creative paths, but it was knitting that became my primary outlet for years.  I managed a knit shop and had my work featured in a nationally published pattern collection. When a shoulder injury forced me to put down the needles, I was devastated.

But creativity has a way of finding its way back.  Thanks to my loving husband who gifted me a series of painting classes – that was my return to art.  Many canvases later, I’m still building color and meaning layer by layer.

I have had the joy of studying with many gifted artist including Edie Maney, Mildred Jarrett,  Camille Przewodek, Gerald Brommer, and Dorsey McHugh. I’ve also shared my own knowledge through workshops at Plaza Art in Nashville.  Every day I continue learning, experimenting, and stretching toward new possibilities.

Thanks for visiting, Nancy
